Introduction:
The 80PLUS certification that most high-end power supply manufacturers are aiming to achieve is a rating system that actually comes in four steps. There's the standard 80PLUS for any power supply that's able to achieve at least an 80% efficiency rating. Those that consistently achieve higher could also fall into the categories of 80PLUS Bronze, 80PLUS Silver or 80PLUS Gold. With the standard 80PLUS well achieved by many manufacturers, this year we can expect to see a lot more aiming for even higher power efficiency with their products. Silverstone has already started the bandwagon with their 80PLUS Bronze power supply, the ST65EF which we are reviewing here today.
