Let me start off by saying the box for the Expressionist ULTRA speaker system is not small. The subwoofer alone is the size of a micro-ATX case, so the box holding it all is almost two-and-a-half times that. Inside, everything is well packed and protected. I spent just as much time peeling protective plastic covers off the speakers as I did actually unboxing the system. Not a scratch or rub mark would ever make it through to the speakers during shipping.

When unpackaged, you will see what the Expressionist ULTRA is really about. The speakers don't have a traditional body design. Rather, each speaker is individually encapsulate while mounted on a tinted acrylic trapezoid frame. The subwoofer also follows this trapezoid design. For being a shape and design not traditionally used on speaker systems, the pictures below show that it's very eye catching.

Focusing in on each speaker a little more; the Altec Lansing logo is seen in gold right at the top of the trapezoid frame. Under that is the exposed silver neodymium tweeter (a plastic bar through the middle keeps fingers out) and the larger mid-range driver occupies the rest of the space. The mid-range driver has a tightly notched silver ring around it (see photos) and a material shield on a frame infront of it. The overall design of the tweeters is very "raw", with very little hidden from the eye. Out the back of each speaker, the tweeter casing is only 2cm deep while the main mid-range driver body stretches 14cm back. The wiring on each speaker is hard-wired and measures approximately two meters long. Each tweeter has 33 watts of power behind it.
