Instead of going with hardwired cables, the NX-8060 uses a modular cable design. Having the modular connections on the power supply is what gives it the extra depth over some of the hardwired power supplies we have recently reviewed. All the cables are also sleeved. All cables are approximately 50cm long (not taking into account any small strands they may break off into). Cable layout is as follows:
| Fixed connectors |
Modular connectors |
20+4-pin motherboard connector
4+4-pin connector
PCI-Express connector |
cable 1: 3 x 4-pin Molex connector
cable 2: 2 x 4-pin Molex and 1 x floppy connector
cable 3: 2 x 4-pin Molex and 1 x floppy connector
cable 4: 3 x SATA connector
cable 5: 3 x SATA connector
cable 6: 1 x PCI-Express connector
cable 7: 4+4-pin connector |

Without an included manual, I was unable to look into the protection measures this power supply has. After contacting Nexus with this inquiry I received the answer I was looking for. Since the answer I got was more detailed than any user manual would ever include, I have pasted it directly below for your pleasure.
OVER VOLTAGE PROTECTION
Voltage Source Protection Point
+3.3V 3.76V-4.8V
+5V 5.6V-7.0V
12VDC 13.5V-16.5V |
OVER-CURRENT PROTECTION
OUTPUT VOLTAGE Max. over current limit
+3.3V 60A
+5V 48A
12V1 30A
12V2 30A
12V3 30A
12V4 30A |
SHORT CIRCUIT PROTECTION
Output short circuit is defined to be a short circuit load of less than 0.1
ohm.
In the event of an output short circuit condition on +3.3V, +5V
,+12V1,+12V2,+12V3
or 12V4 output, the power supply will shutdown and latch off without damage
to the
power supply. The power supply shall return to normal operation after the
short circuit
has been removed and the power switch has been turned off for no more than 2
seconds.
In the event of an output short circuit condition on -12V output, the power
supply will not be
damaged. The power supply shall return to normal operation as soon as the
short circuit has been
removed. and the power switch has been turned off for no more than 2
seconds. |
