With the dog days of summer upon us, many people are doing everything they can to keep cool or catch an extra draft of cold air. Having a fan blowing on you is undoubtedly a very refreshing thing - but finding the space for a fan near your cramped computer desk can sometimes be another story. What you really need is a fan that can sit on your desk, occupy minimal space, and not require an extra outlet or extension cord to power it. USB fans have been on the market for quite a few years now, but most are poorly designed or are simply way too small to be useful. What we really need is someone with a proven record in making high performing internal PC fans to adopt that same design premise for a desktop fan. This is where Silverstone has chosen to enter this market. Their Air Penetrator series of fans, reviewed previously, have unique grill designs that waste less air and channel the resulting airflow into a much stronger column. These fans performed flawlessly inside my computer, and now Silverstone has taken them outside my computer with a variety of colourful USB models.
