After being seemingly dominant for quite some time, 2011 saw Silenx, a silent PC component manufacturer, start releasing some new products into the market. I personally had the opportunity to review their 120mm Effizio LED fan and their budget minded 92mm spiral heatsink and fan. These products showed a lot of progression for the Silenx name - both had quiet performance and competitive price tags. In the years prior I had reviewed many Silenx products and often questioned why they were referred to as 'silent' to begin with.
One thing I liked about the 92mm Silenx CPU cooler I reviewed last year was that for under $12 it offered very quiet operation and performance I couldn't complain about. It was great for small systems, like HTPCs or mATX cases, and was also a great upgrade from any stock cooler. One area this tiny cooler would struggle with are more demanding high end systems like those of gamers or overclockers. This is where the new 120mm Effizio tower cooler comes in - the one I just happen to have on my test bench today.
